Our Unit can be contacted 24 hours a day, every day of the year. A volunteer member of the Unit is rostered on each week to be the Unit Duty Officer. This Duty Officer (D/O) will respond to any pager message or phone call during that week on behalf of the Unit. Our headquarters is not manned 24 hours a day.

Call 132 500 from anywhere in Victoria for emergency SES assistance in a flood or storm. It is the same cost as a local call in Victoria (mobiles may be higher).

SES volunteers are on call 24 hours a day to provide emergency assistance if you or your property is affected by a flood or storm.

When you call 132 500 you will be connected to your local SES Unit or an emergency communications centre, where a trained call taker will note the details and dispatch the local SES Unit to the incident.

If you are interesting in joining the Sorrento Unit, please leave a message on the Local Headquaters "LHQ" phone (59 820077) answering machine and we will get back to you within the week. For a quicker response try emailing us or simply turn up to our training nights. Anyone is welcome and free to turn up and see what we do. Training nights are currently held on a Tuesday Night, 7:30 pm at the LHQ.
