MARK Winduss has seen the carnage on peninsula roads first-hand.

A volunteer with the Sorrento SES road rescue unit, Mr Winduss, 41, has attended some of the fatal accidents that have haunted the Mornington Peninsula Shire this calendar year.

The Sorrento unit, which has about a dozen road rescue volunteers, is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week and covers the stretch of the peninsula from Jetty Rd, Rosebud, through to Portsea.
